New changes to file are lost after shut down

I have noticed this many times. Whenever i close bas and shutdown pc then new changes that i did are lost so i goto project backups folder to find those changes and replace. Does anyone know why does this happen ? Any solution so it won't happen in future ?

Did you save your changes before exiting BAS?

No, i didn't. I thought there is auto-save feature when it is closed. Thanks.
