How can I copy part of text from a text area

Is there a way I can copy text from a text area,
The text is an long article, but I want my bot to copy only the first paragraph of the text so I can paste to another text area, is there a way I can do that.
I've tried recording it manually, but scrolling to the first paragraph and copying it so the bot can save it, but when I played it, it's not working, it doesn't copy the paragraph
