Help Please - geolocation settings or updating precise location?

I am wanting to gather local search results based on geolocation.
Currently I am using a 4g proxy which is working fine and then I set the geolocation to ensure that the browser believes I am precisely in the target location.
However, after setting geolocation (long, lat), I try to confirm this has been applied by visiting google maps and view my location. The precise location does not appear to updated to reflect the geolocation settings I entered earlier.
What am I missing here exactly?
