No one can like posts on the English subs.

  • Hi, I've noticed that almost all the posts in various subs have zero to one likes, even those with 2k+ views. When I visited the Russian subs, I observed likes on posts with just 100 views. I believe this might be because few people in the English subs can like posts (or at least very few can). I was wondering if the moderator could consider changing the rule from "5 likes on your post in order to like someone else's content" on the English sub to something like "Users who have been actively participating in discussions for a month" or a similar criterion. This change could give our community the initial boost, and I believe it would contribute to the thriving of the English community on the platform. Just a thought. Is there any other opinions on this matter?

  • agree

  • @Megadarren88-0 What do you mean?

  • @Fox If you look at all the posts on the English topics, their is almost zero likes on everything. Even the posts with 1k+ views have no more than one or two likes. With that in mind its pretty safe to assume most of the English speakers cannot like posts, which makes it where no one can get five likes on a comment or post. We need 5 likes on a post or comment in order to be able to like another persons post. So its a cycle of no likes, and I think if likes were enabled our community would grow. What I'm asking for is that the moderator finds a solution to this problem, or takes my suggestion of "Users who have been actively participating in discussions for a month or more, get the right to like other peoples posts and comments". The fact is, compared to the Russian sub the English sub is dead. And if we get the English sub up, we can get more users actively contributing in topics, questions/answers, modules, and every thing else on this form. Also as an incentive for the mods, more people making modules means better software, which makes more interest in purchasing said software from everyone. Their is a lot of Native English speakers that could do really good things for BAS and I think enabling features like "Liking other peoples posts" Is a good step in the right direction for bringing those people on board, and making our community thrive.

  • @Fox Didn't realize you were the mod until now lol. English sub is broken, pls fix

The forum engine does not support setting rules for individual branches, all rules are global. That is, the same rules apply to English and Russian language threads.

Also, I don't see how the ability to put a large number of likes will increase the activity of the community as a whole? The community is formed by users, it just so happens that there are more Russian-speaking users on this forum, so the activity of Russian-speaking threads is higher. No one restricted English-speaking users and did not encourage Russian-speaking users separately.

Moreover, increasing user activity on the forum is not the only way to increase the popularity of BAS. If you have good ideas, we have a marketing position open: https://community.bablosoft.com/topic/16648/вакансия-маркетолога

  • Unfortunately I don't think I'm qualified for such a position. But I do have some thoughts. Have you considered implementing a affiliate system? That would be a cheap and efficient way to promote. All you have to do is set up the website for it, then plug your affiliate website into places like Clickbank or Jvzoo and have those people do the leg work of promoting your product. And trying google ads for terms like browser automation or other keyword names that are associated with the program. These ideas are far from original but I think it could help. Especially an affiliate system.

As for this, I guess ill just hang out on the Russian side until I get enough likes to give other active native English speakers the ability to like others content.

Nice to meet you btw fox
